Morning children, parents and carers. It is looking like today would be the perfect day to get out in the garden and look at some of the plants that are growing there.

We began our topic on plants in Science last week identifying some of the basic features of a plant including the root, stem, leaves and flowers. Today, I would like you to find out about the jobs that these parts of a plant do. I would like you then to write a short paragraph about each. Please remember to think about your sentences, start with a capital letter, use finger spaces and full stops.

The following article and quiz will help you with this.

In Maths today, I would like you to use your knowledge of counting in 2s to work out some multiplication problems. An example of a problem involving multiplying by 2 is 5 X 2= In this number sentence, we want to find out what 5 lots of 2 are. We can work this out by counting in 2s 5 times (2, 4, 6, 8, 10) so 5 lots of 2 is equal to 10 ( 5 x 2 = 10).

Use this method to work out the following:

3 x 2 =

4 x 2 =

7 x 2 =

9 x 2 =

12 x 2 =

0 x 2 =

2 x 10 =

Also, have a go at this word problem. Sam had 11 2p coins. How much money did he have? He wanted to buy a bag of sweets that cost 40p. How many 2p coins would he need to buy the sweets?

It’s Wellbeing Wednesday so today we will be using a Yogo session involving a deep sea creature.

Normally, we would be spending some time at Forest School today. Take this time to explore your garden. What is growing there? Can you identify the stem, leaves and flowers? Can you spot any minibeasts?

Reading – Read your book to an adult. Can you explain what you have read so far? What do you like about the book? Are there any other books you have read that are similar?

Have a lovely day and safe safe
